FAQs
Can’t find the answer to your question here? Get in touch with us via our Contact Form.
What days and times do you fly?
We offer flights seven days a week, usually between 9am and 5pm in winter and until 8.30pm in summer, depending on the weather. Our standard daily scenic experiences are scheduled regularly, and we also offer tailor made experiences to suit our passengers’ itineraries.
How early do I need to book?
The earlier you book, the less likely you are to be disappointed. Booking early allows you to choose your preferred time and day to fly. If the weather means it’s unsafe to fly, you’ll have the opportunity to reschedule your flight.
Do I need to share the helicopter?
We have a minimum requirement of two passengers per FlyBlue Heli-Experience, and offer two booking tiers for those who do not wish to share the helicopter.
Share
depending on the number of bookings that day, other guests may join your flight.
Private
secure all the seats on your flight to ensure it is exclusive to yourself and your guests.
How safe is it?
FlyBlue Aviation is a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Certified Air Carrier and we embrace the high-standard regulations. We have a 100% safety record, and all our operations are subject to an exceedingly high level of safety regulatory requirements.
Each passenger is given a thorough safety briefing before each flight, to understand safety procedures and the operation of doors, seatbelts and general safety awareness around the helicopter. Our fleet and pilots are second to none [link to FlyBlue Fleet and FlyBlue Team]. Our commitment is to ensuring our guests make life-long memories while having fun.
When do I need to arrive at Katoomba Airfield?
Please arrive at Katoomba Airfield (178–180 Grand Canyon Road, Medlow Bath) at least 30 minutes before the start time of your FlyBlue Heli-Experience, to ensure there’s time for the safety briefing. Free parking is available.
Can we take our own photos and videos?
Absolutely – it’s all about making (and recording) memories. We recommend you use any standard, hand-held camera, phone or video device.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is always our first priority. If the weather on the day of your FlyBlue Heli-Experience means it’s unsafe to fly, we’ll reschedule your flight for a mutually convenient time or offer a full refund.
What is your refund policy?
If you cancel within 72 hours of your flight time, you will incur a 50% cancellation fee. If you cancel within 24 hours of your flight time or are a no-show, you will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
We offer full refunds if your flight is cancelled due to bad weather or other unforeseen events and we are unable to reschedule to fly within one hour or at a mutually convenient time.
What about the environment and local community?
FlyBlue Aviation is a member of the Helicopter Association International and we adhere to the Association’s Fly Neighbourly program, minimising noise impact on the local environment and community by following routes predetermined with NSW National Parks.
Our pilots use flying techniques to reduce the helicopter’s noise signature, and fly higher than normal in noise-sensitive areas.
